Understanding small groups to be a primary means of spiritual formation, we offer short-term small groups throughout the year.  In recent years, such groups have used resources including A Blueprint for Discipleship:  Wesley’s General Rules as a Guide for Christian Living by  and The Way of Prayer by Jane Vennard with Stephen Bryant.

Read the Bible in a Year

Ever try to read through the Bible but got stuck or bored when you reached the laws of Leviticus and gave up?  Here’s an invitation to Read the Bible in 2012 and receive the support of our church community.

A Bible Reading Plan is available at the church and on our website.  Participants will read four chapters 25 days each month.  The readings rotate between Old and New Testaments for variety.  To assist us in keeping the reading discipline, two opportunities are offered.

    1.  Meet with a Small Group twice a month to share reflections on readings and encourage one another.  Let Pastor Lori know if you are interested and we’ll find a convenient meeting time for all.

    2.  Receive occasional emails from Pastor Lori regarding the context and history of the Biblical books to aid your understanding.  Send her an email at pastor@thelumc.org if you’d like to receive these emails.

Plan now to start January 1.  Select a Bible and perhaps a journal for your reflections.  It might be a year to read a new translation and hear the scriptures in a fresh way.
